Former Argonon exec Lynn Lugsden has moved to Orange Smarty as the UK-based indie distributor launches a new format catalog.

Lugsden has joined the factual distributor as head of formats and will be responsible for growing Orange Smarty’s catalog and increasing format sales.

Most recently, Lugsden worked as group head of sales and commercial with London-based prodco Argonon. She’s also held positions at Tiger Aspect and Endemol.

The new hire follows Orange Smarty’s recent success in acquiring content with format rights attached, including the new series Coast Vs Country from Freeform Productions. The new series sees battling presenters pit two beautiful dreams against each other – moving to a rural idyll in the countryside versus enjoying a new life in a coastal hotspot by the sea.

Other titles include the new series Super Cleaners (ITV) and Claimed and Shamed (BBC1) from Curve Media, as well as What to Buy and Why from 7 Wonder and House of Hypochondriacs from Fresh One.

“With more and more producers looking to develop ideas with format potential, and the current renaissance of factual formats, the time felt right to make our move,” said CEO Karen Young in a statement.
