Discovery Communications has elevated Jamie McFarland to the role of vice president, digital distribution, effective immediately.

Based in Discovery’s New York office, McFarland will be responsible for the strategic development and execution of the company’s U.S. slate across all digital platforms, negotiating with SVOD providers, device manufacturers, pay-TV partners, digital multichannel video programming distributors and wireless carriers to expand distribution of the company’s content and digital services.

“Jamie has been instrumental in many of Discovery’s recent deals with partners like AT&T and Amazon,” said Gabriel Sauerhoff, SVP, digital distribution, Discovery Communications, in a statement, and to whom McFarland will continue to report.

McFarland previously held the position of senior director, digital media distribution at Discovery, where she helped launch the company’s portfolio of TVE apps, as well as the first U.S. standalone offering through Amazon’s Channels subscription service.

Before joining Discovery in 2015, she held both senior director and director positions in digital content distribution at American Spanish-language broadcast television network Univision, where she managed partnerships and drove engagement for the company’s digital roster. Previously, she served in various roles at the NHL.
