Vice Media’s youth-orientated Viceland readies its summer slate with new shows including American Boyband.
The new show American Boyband (w/t) follows the Brockhampton collective — a group of young musicians and artists who all met on a Kanye West fan forum, self-described as the “all-American boy band.” The program focuses on frontman Kevin Abstract as the group embarks on their debut North American tour. American Boyband (pictured) airs June 8 at 10: 30 p.m ET/PT.
During the tour, the group also shoots their own film project featuring Abstract’s alter ego, “Helmet Boy,” with the goal of pitching it as a series for Viceland.
Also new to the network is Nuts + Bolts, with musician, designer, record and TV producer Tyler, the Creator, who looks to find out how some of his favorite things are made. He uses this new information to then recreate those items according to his own creative vision. Produced by Tyler and Whalerock Industries, episodes see Tyler make everything from his own stop-motion animated short to a new kind of breakfast food, all infused with his own style. Nuts + Bolts bows August 3 at 10:30 p.m ET/PT.
Rounding out the slate is The Last Shot, a docuseries that follows the lives of American and Mexican basketball players whose careers have been thrown off course. Produced by Goodfight Media and Alex Gibney’s Jigsaw Productions, the series follows the players as they head to rural Mexico to try and make a living playing the sport they love. Players experience everything from fights and corruption to cultural differences and exotic locations. Their goal is to be spotted by professional scouts who can help them in their last attempt to reach their dreams. The Last Shot premieres August 8 at 10 p.m ET/PT.
Returning series include State of Undress, Huang’s World, King of the Road and Party Legends.
