Reality star Christopher “Big Black” Boykin passed away on Tuesday.

The 45-year-old was best known for his role on the MTV reality series Rob & Big. Boykin was the best friend and bodyguard of skateboarder and entrepreneur Rob Drydek, and the series followed the pair’s day-to-day lives.

Rob & Big aired for three seasons, beginning in 2006 and ending in 2008. Boykin would go on to appear in Drydek’s Fantasy Factory and Ridiculousness.

Boykin’s ex-wife, Shannon, took to Boykin’s Twitter to announce the news of his passing.

Drydek has gone on to tweet several posts in memory of Boykin. “We truly were brothers that lived an unexpected unforgettable adventure,” he writes in one tweet. “I just can’t fathom that it would end so suddenly.”

The cause of Boykin’s death is yet to be confirmed.
