Ahead of the premiere of Investigation Discovery’s two-hour special, Who Killed Angie Dodge? Keith Morrison Investigates on Monday (May 29), realscreen presents an exclusive clip from the project.
Produced by NBC News’ Peacock Productions, the one-off features Dateline NBC correspondent Keith Morrison sitting down with questionably convicted Chris Tapp to uncover the latest developments in the unsolved 1996 murder case of Angie Dodge, an 18-year-old woman murdered in her home in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Tapp, an acquaintance of Dodge, was released from a lifetime prison sentence on March 22 due to evidence of a coerced confession in Dodge’s murder, after spending 7,352 days behind bars. Though released from prison, the deal maintained that Tapp would still be listed as a convicted murderer. He maintains his innocence to this day.
Angie’s own mother, Carol Dodge, became one of Tapp’s greatest advocates and was at the helm of his exoneration fight as part of her enduring mission to find killer responsible in her daughter’s death.
Morrison, meanwhile, returns to Idaho Falls to report on the latest developments in the case, featuring exclusive interviews with Carol Dodge, Tapp’s public defender and a man who was falsely implicated in Angie’s murder but has never spoken on camera.
Earlier this month, the Idaho Falls Police Department unveiled a new tip line and released new computer generated sketches of the man who left DNA at the crime scene. Meanwhile, Tapp’s attorney continues to work with Carol Dodge as she pursues her own investigation and track down leads.
In the clip below, Morrison explains that while Chris Tapp will walk as a free man, he technically is still labeled as a murderer.
Who Killed Angie Dodge? Keith Morrison premieres May 29 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Investigation Discovery.
