Channel 4 is bringing back the iconic adventure game show The Crystal Maze next month.

The series sees teams of five navigate the Aztec, Medieval, Industrial and Futuristic zones of a large maze. They will face a range of skill, mystery, physical and mental challenges to win crystals that equate to time in the final test – the Crystal Dome.

Richard Ayoade, a British comedian best known for his work on The IT Crowd, will be the host of the revived series.

The Crystal Maze is filmed at The Bottle Yard Studios in Bristol, where a purpose built maze spanning over 30,000 square feet has been created by original Crystal Maze designer, James Dillon (The Mighty Boosh, The Royle Family).

It will be executive produced by Peter Usher and Neale Simpson for Fizz and has been commissioned by Tom Beck, commissioning editor for entertainment, and head of entertainment, Ed Havard. The Crystal Maze is a Banijay Group Format.

The Crystal Maze will air on C4 in June.
