“Billy Goes North” heads to Blaze

After taking on North America’s worst critters, exterminator and pest control expert Billy Bretherton is ready to invade Europe.

Toronto-based prodco Proper Rights is introducing Brehterton to the UK and Ireland with the sale of Billy Goes North (12×30′) to A+E-branded channel Blaze.

Billy Goes North follows the adventures of Bretherton as he leaves Louisiana behind to conquer some of North America’s most menacing pests and critters. Throughout the series, Bretherton tackles everything from wolves preying on livestock to beavers that have taken residence in a home.

Recent additional sales by Proper Rights also include two series produced by Essential Media — Body Hack with Todd Sampson (6×60′) to Bell Media’s French specialty channel Canal D, and celebrity scandal series Under The Influence (6×60′) to Bell Media’s French specialty channel Investigation.

Discovery Benelux picked up the car-cult favorite Vegas Rat Rods Season 3 (12×60′), produced by Proper Television, while Proper’s docu-series True North Calling (6×30′) has been sold to Viasat for their Explore channel across the Nordics, CEE and Russia.

Nordic World inks deals across Nordic territories

Nordic World has closed a string of deals across the Nordic territories.

MTV Finland has stocked up on four series of  interior design series Äntligen Hemma. Finnish audiences will also be treated to the first three series of reality show Unga Föräldrar, also from TV4 Sweden, which follows the trials and tribulations of teenage parents. MTV Finland has also acquired the fifth season of cookery show Tina PÅ Besök and Norwegian lifestyle show Cottage Dream (Sommerhytta).

SVT and DR have both bought TV2 Norway’s 60-minute documentary Therese Johaug – The Verdict, which tells the story of cross-country skiing star Therese Johaug who tested positive for a banned steroid last year.

TV2 Norway and TV2 Denmark have acquired the two-part royal documentary Kronprinsessan Victoria 40 År, which charts the life of Sweden’s crown princess, who turns 40 this July. TV2 Norway has also picked up TV4 Sweden reality series Singelliv, which follows single Swedes as they search for love.

TV2 Denmark also acquired a nine-title package consisting of more than 60 hours of content. Titles include long-running Norwegian and Swedish renovation series Tid For Hjem from TV2 Norway, and Sommar Med Ernst and Jul Med Ernst from TV4 in Sweden.

Prime inks deals for docs with RTBF

LA-based producer and distributor Prime Entertainment Group has closed a package deal with Belgian media group Radio Télévision Belge (RTBF) for 3×90′ documentary programs to be aired on their channel RTBF2.

RTBF has acquired The Amazing Life of the Fairground People, Gypsies: to Live by Your Own Rules and The Incredible Circus Life, all which showcase the lives of the people who put together some of the world’s most impressive circus shows.

Prime Entertainment Group has a great presence in the Belgian territory and has closed several deals with other Belgian channels including Medialaan, SBS and RTL.
