Realscreen‘s staff is celebrating Canada’s 150th birthday on July 1. That means our daily newsletter will not publish on Monday, July 3 due to the national holiday. The newsletter will return to your inbox on Tuesday, July 4, just in time to recognize our American readers and kick off the fireworks for U.S. Independence Day.

For doc lovers in Toronto, don’t forget to check out Hot Docs’ In the Name of All Canadians — a compilation of six short docs inspired by Canada’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Participating filmmakers chose a specific aspect of the Charter to explore, such as indigenous rights, multiculturalism or the notwithstanding clause, and were tasked with exploring how these themes resonate in the stories of their fellow Canadians.

In the Name of All Canadians begins screening at Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema June 30.
