After five years with Endemol Shine North, Alex Connock has stepped down from his role as managing director with the company.

Rick Murray, creative director, will take over the day-to-day operations, wrote Richard Johnston, Endemol Shine UK CEO, in a memo to staff.

Connock and Murray’s slate of factual hits at Endemol Shine include Idris Elba: Fighter for Discovery, Supercar Megabuild for Nat Geo, Car Crash TV for Channel 5 and the upcoming Superchargers for CBBC and Goblin Garage for Discovery.

Johnston noted Connock’s interest in digital branded content, having worked with brands at Endemol Shine North and lectured on social video at different universities. He is going on to write an academic book about the topic, as well as planning a new digital video business in Manchester.

“As a group, we are absolutely committed to developing our nations and regions presence and building the Manchester business is a major part of this,” said Johnston.
