Znak & Co and New York-based Lucky 8 TV have inked an international coproduction deal that will see the companies develop and coproduce unscripted programming in the UK.
Their first project is Bad Girls Banged Up, a gritty prison format which takes at-risk female teens from the UK and subjects them, for one week, to the U.S. corrections system. The format will be shopped to UK broadcasters this week.
“We’re elated to bring our work to the UK market alongside Znak & Co, whose singular creative expertise and success in developing programming and formats internationally make them an ideal partner for delivering content to UK audiences,” said Lucky 8 TV’s Woodard and Henry, in a statement.
Znak & Co currently has copro partnerships with Electus International and Jenny Daly’s T Group Productions, as well as a development deal with musician will.i.am. The company, which has offices in London and L.A., has over a dozen projects in production and development with networks in both the U.S. and the UK including Sky, ITV, Fox, C4 and MTV.
Lucky 8 TV has experience working with the U.S. corrections system as the company behind A&E’s 60 Days In. The series – going into its fourth season – follows everyday citizens who go undercover as inmates in American jails. Other current Lucky 8 series include Kids BBQ Championship for Food Network; Secrets of the Underground (Science Channel); The Real Story with María Elena Salinas (ID); the upcoming Released (OWN); and a currently untitled high school docuseries for A&E.
