Two-time Emmy Award-winning producer Stephen Mintz has been named VP, programming and development at New York-based Truly Original.
In his new role, Mintz will work across Truly Original’s slate of franchises, including The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Ink Master and Hack My Life. He will join a creative team led by Lauren Eskelin, EVP of programming and Bryan Hale, EVP of development.
Before joining Truly Original, Mintz served as executive producer at History, where he oversaw some of the network’s most successful franchises, including Swamp People (produced by Truly Original), Ice Road Truckers and Appalachian Outlaws. He also shepherded several specials, including The L.A. Riots: 25 Years Later and Navy SEALs: America’s Secret Warriors.
Prior to History, Mintz was an executive producer at VH1 where he helped re-launch the biography series Behind the Music and helped oversee the ‘Rock Docs’ franchise. That included creative oversight of the Emmy-nominated documentaries Planet Rock: The Story of Hip Hop & the Crack Generation and Woodstock: Now & Then.
“We’re excited to welcome Stephen to Truly Original at a time of unprecedented growth at our company,” said Truly Original co-presidents and CEOs Steven Weinstock and Glenda Hersh, in a statement. “His versatility and experience in many different genres and formats is extremely valuable as our series slate continues to broaden and diversify.”
Earlier this year, sister prodcos True Entertainment and Original Media — both headed by Hersh and Weinstock — merged to form Truly Original, a single, full-service, fully integrated production entity under the Endemol Shine North America banner.
