On tap for this week’s roundup, new seasons are on the way for series on Animal Planet, Net5, UKTV’s W channel and HGTV. 

Animal Planet’s Pit Bulls & Parolees returns for a new season starring Tia Torres,  a trainer of pit bull terriers and founder of the New Orleans-based Villalobos Rescue Center. Torres offers a new start for parolees and a new life for dogs that have been demonized and discarded because of the reputation of their breed. Pit Bulls & Parolees airs Aug. 5 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Animal Planet. 44 Blue Productions and Rive Gauche Television produce the series.

Dutch broadcaster Net5, part of SBS Group Netherlands, has commissioned a second series (6×60) of Twofour’s format The Diner. Vincent TV Producties will produce the series, which follows a world-class chef mentoring a group of young people with disabilities as they work towards breaking into the hospitality industry.

Dr. Christian Jessen returns for a second series of Dr. Christian Will See You Nowexclusively on UKTV’s entertainment channel W. The series (8×60) from Firecracker Films follows the doctor as he diagnoses, counsels and treats patients. Jessen’s skills will be put to the test as he treats a range of medical conditions, from body image issues to fertility complications, to more complex psychological concerns. The new season will air later this year.

And finally, HGTV has ordered more than 50 new episodes of its fantasy lifestyle series Beach Hunters, Lakefront Bargain Hunt and Lakefront Bargain Hunt Renovation. The new episodes are set to air in 2018. Beach Hunters (pictured) showcases buyers who travel to exotic seaside destinations to find their dream homes on the sand. In Lakefront Bargain Hunt, buyers seek budget-friendly waterfront homes in lakeside towns and Lakefront Bargain Hunt Renovation features families who transform a fixer upper into their perfect getaway by the lake.
