Argonon International taps Cecilie Olsen as SVP, sales and acquisitions

Argonon International, Argonon Group’s distribution division, has tapped former NBCUniversal exec Cecilie Olsen as SVP, sales and acquisitions.

Based in London, Olsen (pictured) is responsible for driving distribution and format sales for the business as it looks to expand its global business. She reports to Laura Bessell-Martin, Argonon Group’s COO.

Olsen joins Argonon International from NBCUniversal International Studios where she was director of formats and production, leading format sales for Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, Russia, CIS, Germany and Africa. Previously, she was VP of sales at Twofour, where she helped launch their distribution division.

With more than 15 years of experience, Olsen previously had stints in sales at Target Entertainment, Fox Sports International, Sullivan Entertainment and Broadcast magazine.

“With Cecilie’s track record of launching sales divisions, securing landmark deals and a clear passion for what she does, along with the current expansion of the sales team, Argonon International is poised to maximize on all our content globally,” Bessell-Martin said, in a statement.

Olsen’s appointment comes as Argonon International looks to increase its investments in original content, third party productions and global acquisitions, the company said in a release. As part of the expansion plans, she has hired Paul Glynn for the role of senior sales executive, and will also look to hire a head of acquisitions.

Most recently Glynn held the position of senior TV distribution manager at Guinness World Records where he was responsible for selling their TV catalog, which consists of formats, long and short-form content, globally.

DIY greenlights Lawn & Order

Scripps Networks Interactive-owned DIY Network has given the production greenlight to unscripted series Lawn & Order starring the network’s landscaping experts, Chris Lambton and Sara Bendrick.

Each episode will feature the two hosts as they help homeowners improve their tired home exteriors to attract potential buyers. The eight-episode series, produced by Glass Entertainment, is slated to premiere on the network in April 2018.

Portfolio moves food programming abroad

Toronto-based producer and distributor Portfolio Entertainment has sold a host of culinary lifestyle series to Russia, Poland and the UK.

Russia’s Red Media Kitchen has picked up Best in the World Japan (10 x 30 minutes), as well as a series of You Gotta Eat Here! compilations (16 x 30 minutes). Meanwhile, Poland’s ITI Neovision’s Kuchnia+ channel has picked up Café Maria (30 x 30 minutes). And in the UK, UKTV’s Good Food Channel has added season five of You Gotta Eat Here (28 x 30 minutes) to its programming roster.
