Following a successful non-broadcast pilot, Channel 4′s digital channel E4 has commissioned a 20-episode run of the transformation series My Hotter Half from FremantleMedia-backed UK indie Naked Entertainment.

Hosted by British-Ghanaian comedian Melvin Odoom, the 20 x 30-minute format will pit couples against one another by presenting their sexiest selfies to “real online daters” in order to reveal which of that couple is the certified “Hotter Half”.

The partner with the least “likes” is given a makeover by a team of the UK’s premium stylists to try to help turn the tables. Once made over, the loser will be put up once more against “hotter” partner in a second effort to equal – or better – their partner’s initial score.

Executive producers are Naked’s Simon Andreae and Tom O’Brien. E4′s Dominic Bird, head of formats, and Simone Haywood, commissioning editor, ordered the series for the channel.

The series is slated to premiere later this year.

My Hotter Half is a fast-paced and punchy but also sweet and surprising format funnel for the nation’s most entertaining, intriguing, and sometimes oddly matched couples, built out from a longstanding relationship taboo i.e. wondering aloud, ‘which of us is really the one punching here?” said O’Brien in a statement.
