Scottish commercial broadcaster STV Group has appointed ITV digital exec Simon Pitts as chief executive officer, effective Jan. 3, 2018.
Pitts joins STV Group from ITV, where he held the position of managing director, online, pay TV, interactive and technology.
Pitts joined ITV in 2000, and went on to hold a variety of senior positions ranging from strategy, general management, digital media, policy and regulation and public affairs. He was promoted to the ITV management board in the role of director of strategy and transformation in January 2011, followed by director of strategy and technology in March 2013.
He is currently vice-chair of the trustees of the Royal Television Society.
“After a thorough and rigorous search process we are delighted that Simon has agreed to join STV as chief executive officer, said Baroness Margaret Ford, chair of STV Group, in a statement. “The combination of Simon’s sector experience, drive and track record in delivering strategic change make him an ideal candidate to lead STV’s next phase of growth. I am looking forward to working with him.”
Pitts replaces Rob Woodward, who announced in April 2017 that he would be stepping down from the role.
