Universal Television Alternative Studio and Endemol Shine Group bring “The Wall” to Russia and CEE

Global content producer and distributor Endemol Shine Group and Universal Television Alternative Studios have completed a series of new deals with broadcasters across Central Eastern Europe and Russia for The Wall.

Endemol Shine Poland has been commissioned by TVP 1 in Poland to produce 14 episodes of the original U.S. format from Glassman Media, SpringHill Entertainment and Universal Television Alternative Studio.

Elsewhere, Weit Media has been commissioned to produce eight episodes by Russian broadcaster, Rossya 1. Meanwhile, Antena in Romania has ordered a run of 45 episodes with RTL in Hungary commissioning 50 episodes.

Filming for both the Russian and Romanian productions will take place at the Polish hub.

This raft of commissions follows the news of a Channel Seven deal with Endemol Shine Australia and a French Canadian deal with Quebecor Content. The Wall (pictured) continues to roll out globally with launches in France, Spain and Germany.

The quiz show requires teammates to work together to tackle an enormous interactive wall in order to win the cash prize.

Boomerang in Spain takes on two Armoza formats

Spain’s Boomerang TV has picked up two titles from Israeli producer-distributor Armoza Formats.

The commercial broadcaster has acquired the social experiment format Sex Tape and the reality competition program Curvy Supermodel.

This new deal makes Spain the sixth territory to take Sex Tape and Curvy Supermodel, with premieres coming soon in Poland And Ukraine.

A second season of the plus-size modeling competition is now airing in Germany, with the finished tapes of the German version having been licensed in Spain by Mediaset’s woman-focused channel Divinity.

Brooklyn-based film and TV distributor FilmRise has acquired worldwide rights to Sandra Adair’s The Secret Life of Lance Letscher. The documentary, which marked Adair’s directorial debut, had its world premiere at the 2017 South by Southwest Film Festival.

The film takes a close look at the creative processes and work of the internationally renowned, Austin-based artist, who works across mediums to create collages, sculptures and installations.

Adair has been the longtime editor for director Richard Linklater.

FilmRise will release the film later this year. (Barry Walsh)
