Ball in the Family, one of the first original series to be announced as part of Facebook’s new platform for episodic television, Watch, has received a premiere date.
The previously announced series from Bunim/Murray Productions takes audiences into the lives of the Ball family, which includes entrepreneur and basketball coach LaVar Ball, Los Angeles Lakers rookie Lonzo, his brothers and their mom. Viewers follow LaVar as he builds the BBB (Big Baller Brand) business and preps his sons (pictured) to become basketball greats.
“For Bunim/Murray, participating in the launch of Facebook’s new Watch platform and contributing to its video ecosystem is exciting because it fits with our long history of pioneering new formats and using our programs to help launch platforms,” said Gil Goldschein, chairman and CEO Bunim/Murray Productions, in a statement.
The first two episodes of Ball in the Family will be available on Watch beginning Aug. 31. New episodes will be available on Sundays beginning Sept. 10.
Also coming to Facebook’s Watch platform are two new digital series licensed from Latino-focused digital media company mitú.
In the unscripted comedy series Mom’s Movie Review, host Emmanuelle and his mother Mamá Rosa will watch and review blockbuster films in an attempt to uncover what Latina moms know about movies and what they mean to them.
Elsewhere, What’s Good In Your Hood is an extension of mitú’s original video franchise of the same name. In this series, comedian Andrew Santiago reviews spots in America to find not only good food but good people, doing good work in their community.
The series, Mom’s Movie Review and What’s Good In Your Hood, will debut on Facebook Watch (Aug. 30). Afterwards, Mom’s Movie Review will air on Fridays and What’s Good In Your Hood? will air on Wednesdays.
