Silver Spring, Maryland-based Red Rock Films has opened a new office in South Africa.
To lead the international endeavor, the non-fiction production company has hired Alexander Sletten as director of production and development.
Based in Johannesburg, South Africa, Sletten will be responsible for developing and leading content based on the African continent and other international locations. He will report into Shannon Malone-deBenedictis, VP of production and development.
Previously a principle at Metanoia Films, Sletten has worked on over a dozen natural history films across the globe including Return of the Lion, Lizard King, The Wild Heart of Oslo and Chacma 3D.
“Red Rock is thrilled to have Alex on board to lead our wildlife initiative on the African continent and elsewhere,” said Brian Armstrong, president of Red Rock Films, in a statement. “Alex brings creativity, initiative and incredible production talent to our company and we look forward to producing amazing documentaries with Alex at the helm”.
Red Rock Films was founded in 2010. Its productions include six “Shark Week” specials for Discovery Channel, a 15-part series on American wildlife for Nat Geo Wild, a natural history series for Smithsonian Channel and dozens of live-action digital short through its children’s division Red Rock Kids.
