Lifestyle giant Scripps Network Interactive has appointed CMT’s Matt Trierweiler (pictured) as director of programming for HGTV, DIY Network and Great American Country.

Based at Scripps’ Knoxville, Tennessee office, Trierweiler will manage the development and production of the lifestyle brands’ series and specials. He will report to VP original programming and production Betsy Sanner Ayala.

Most recently, Trierweiler was VP of program development at CMT, upped from senior director and director of development roles. Over his five-year tenure at the Viacom-owned network, he served as an executive producer on such original series as  Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the TeamThe Dude Perfect Show, Dog and Beth: On the Hunt, My Dysfunctional Family, I Love Kellie Pickler and Pontoon Payday.

Prior to joining the channel, Trierweiler worked at Liquid Theory Productions in Los Angeles, serving as a manager of development, and as an associate producer at Bunim/Murray Productions.
