Pulitzer Prize-winning news media platform HuffPost UK has launched a 10-week docureality series featuring anti-racism activist Munroe Bergdorf (pictured).
Produced by Monkey, an NBCUniversal International Studios company, The New Activists will be a quick turnaround daily digital series focused on spotlighting social responsibility.
Each five-minute episode of the format will document the personal journeys of five social activists as they navigate the challenges of everyday relationships and careers to highlight a raft of topical issues making waves throughout the digital realm and across newspaper headlines.
Featured in the digital format will be DJ and anti-racism activist Bergdorf, who was L’Oréal Paris’ first transgender campaign model; teenage body positivity activist and model Sonny Turner; disability campaigner Samantha Renke, who contends with brittle bones and is fighting for affordable housing for disabled people; anti-bullying activist Liam Hackett, founder of digital charity Ditch The Label; and trans activist Charlie Craggs.
The New Activists launched today (Sept. 25) at 4 p.m. GMT across HuffPostUK’s website.
“At HuffPost, we’re committed to examining the subjects that inspire passion in our audience. More people are questioning the establishment view and looking for new ways to change the world for the better,” said Polly Curtis, editor-in-chief at HuffPost UK, in a statement. “The New Activists gives our viewers unrivalled access to the next generation who are doing just this, and a fascinating insight into activist life.”
