Global prodco and distributor FremantleMedia is investing in UK indie factual producer Label1.

FremantleMedia will take a 25% stake in the London-based factual producer. It will sit alongside the company’s portfolio of investment businesses, which includes Easy Tiger, Naked Entertainment, 495 Productions and more.

Label1 is the prodco behind Channel 4′s The Job Interview and BBC2′s Hospital (pictured). It was founded in April 2015 under ITV Studios’ in-house production arm, Shiver, before going indie in early 2017. Label1 was recently commissioned by BBC2 for the six-part series School, and is in development on a number of new projects for British broadcasters.

The next few months are going to be exciting ones for everyone at Label1,” said Lorraine Charker-Phillips, Label1, director of programs, in a statement. “We’ve just started production on School for BBC Two, which under the terms of our new partnership with FremantleMedia will be the first of our series they will distribute globally,”
