BriteSpark Films, a joint venture with super indie Argonon Group, has expanded its footprint with the opening of a new division in Bristol.

Heading up the BriteSpark West office will be Simon Greenwood (pictured, left) who will serve as managing director.

Greenwood previously served as series producer for the third season of Channel 5′s Nightmare Tenants, Slum Landlords, and will be responsible for building out the new business in Bristol. His prior production credits include BBC1′s Watchdog and Crimewatch.

To mark the launch of BriteSpark West, the company has also acquired its first commission: Bad Tenants, Rogue Landlords. The 16 x 60-minute series delves into the dark side of the housing crisis. Argonon International is distributing the series, which is exec produced by Nick Godwin and series produced by Greenwood. It was commissioned for Channel 5 by Lucy Willis and Lara Akeju for broadcast in 2018.

Elsewhere, Lisa Charles (right) has joined BriteSpark Films as senior development producer. Charles previously spent five years producing history and arts films at the BBC, and has worked in senior development roles at Darlow Smithson Productions and Arrow Media. She has also worked on high quality factual content across specialist factual, prime-time pop docs and drama documentary.

Following the success of BriteSpark Films’ 2014 documentary Left For Dead By The Yorkshire Ripper, Channel 5 has commissioned two additional mini-series under the Left For Dead moniker. The 2 x 60-minute series will explore serial killers Levi Bellfield and the Moors Murderers through their surviving victims.

Left For Dead will be directed by Kim Flitcroft, with Goodwin exec producing. The commissioning editor for Channel 5 is Emma Westcott.
