AMC Networks International Iberia is slated to bring youth-focused TV network Viceland to the territory following a partnership with Vice Media.
Beginning next month, Viceland’s branded programming blocks will begin launching daily across AMC Networks’ Odisea and Odisseia channels in Spain and Portugal, respectively.
The two-hour blocks, which will begin airing at 10:30 p.m., will consist of themed entertainment strands that span the culture, travel, food, crime, music, sports, and technology genres. Supported by video on demand and catch-up services, series at launch will include culinary series F*ck, That’s Delicious; docuseries Gaycation (pictured); investigative series Black Market; and Vice World of Sports.
The move follows a wave of recent global rollouts from Vice Media’s 24-hour lifestyle and entertainment channel, which first launched in February 2016 across the U.S. via A+E Networks.
The deal with AMC Networks International Iberia will see Vice content reaching 80 territories by the beginning of 2018.
“The agreement with Viceland will allow us to grow into a type of content that perfectly fits with Odisea, bringing a new perspective to the world of the documentary genre, hand in hand with one of the most unique brands in television right now,” said Eduardo Zulueta, president of AMC Networks International Iberia & Latin America, in a statement. “This new cooperation between Odisea and Viceland will allow audiences in Spain and Portugal to enjoy a new focus and perspective in the world of documentaries.”
