German producer-distributor Red Arrow Entertainment Group has realigned its Scandinavian production into Snowman Productions Denmark, with its Norwegian arm slated to close.
As a result of the restructure, the Norwegian outpost will be shuttered in early 2018. Snowman Norway’s MD Jørgen Steinheim and Dag Obert Eine, head of productions, will exit from the factual producer at that time to pursue new opportunities.
Current Snowman Norway productions, including Married at First Sight for Discovery Norway (pictured), will continue to be produced by Snowman Norway in collaboration with Snowman Denmark in 2017. Snowman Denmark, meanwhile, will work closely with local partners to create Norwegian content beginning 2018.
The Copenhagen-based company is led by CEO Michael von Würden, chief creative officer Rasmus Steentoft, and executive director Lars Fønss. The trio have recently inked multi-year extensions of their Red Arrow contracts.
“Snowman Denmark has become an international TV format powerhouse. It makes sense to now centralize our Scandinavian operations with Michael and his team, and focus on expanding their business,” said Jan Frouman, CEO and chair of Red Arrow Entertainment Group, in a statement. “I would also like to thank Jørgen Steinheim, Dag Obert Eine and their team at Snowman Norway for their hard work and commitment over the last five years. Red Arrow wishes them all the best for their future endeavors.”
Part of Red Arrow since 2011, Snowman Denmark produces entertainment and social experiment formats which have proved successful in their home market and around the world.
Snowman – which launched in Denmark in 2011 and Norway in 2012 – has developed such series as dating format Kiss Bang Love, which has been sold by Red Arrow International into 11 territories including FYI in the U.S., and Married at First Sight, sold into 25-plus countries including a recently aired fifth season on Lifetime in the U.S. In addition, sales of Married at First Sight‘s Danish, UK, U.S. and Australian versions have been sent to more than 130 countries.
Snowman’s other recent new formats include Pregnant with a Stranger for Kanal 4 Denmark and State of Hate for Kanal 5 Denmark. the company also produces a local version of Buying Blind for TV3 Denmark, a format created by Red Arrow’s Kinetic Content and which launched this week with immediate commissions from Nine Network in Australia, RTL Netherlands, and pick-ups in France and Belgium.
