Crime-focused network Oxygen Media is prepping  real-time investigation series Final Appeal.

The program follows former football star and exoneree Brian Banks (pictured, left) and former prosecutor Loni Coombs (pictured, right) as they work to uncover the truth behind contentious cases that may have led to wrongful convictions.

Banks is a former football player who dreamed of playing in the NFL until he was wrongfully convicted of rape in 20o2. He served more than five years behind bars before he was fully exonerated. He now works as an activist against unjust convictions, while Coombs is a former criminal prosecutor and legal commentator with more than two decades of experience.

Together, the duo will break down criminal cases, meeting with the defense and prosecution to get both sides of the story. Banks and Coombs will also consult with investigators and forensic experts to try and uncover fact from fiction.

Final Appeal premieres on Jan. 7 at 7 p.m. ET/PT on Oxygen.
