Award-winning doc A Better Man will see its world broadcast premiere on Canadian pubcaster TVOntario this Saturday (Nov. 25).

The air date coincides with the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. Produced by Intervention Productions along with the National Film Board of Canada and TVO, the doc will also be available to stream on tvo.org beginning Nov. 26.

A Better Man is the story of how filmmaker Attiya Khan, a survivor of domestic abuse, confronts her past by inviting her abuser to discuss the violence that occurred 20 years prior. As Khan and her ex revisit their old apartment, school and hang-out spots, two very different sets of memories emerge.

A Better Man is a rare and compelling film. It offers a fresh and unique perspective on the causes and consequences of abusive relationships,” said John Ferri, TVO’s VP, current affairs and documentaries. “TVO is committed to exploring important issues in ways that challenge our perceptions and create greater understanding.”

A Better Man will air on Nov. 25 at 9 p.m EST/PST. It repeats on TVO Nov. 25 at 1:30 a.m., Nov. 26 at 11 p.m. and 12:30 a.m., Nov. 29 at 9 p.m. and 1:30 a.m., and through a special broadcast on Canada’s National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, Dec. 6 at 9 p.m. and 1:30 a.m.
