RMC Découverte has ordered two docs from indie prodco Pernel Media that explore the mysteries surrounding religious relics and locations.

The first, Lourdes: Miracle Secrets (1 x 90 minutes) investigates the notion of miracles. The doc explains what constitutes a miracle and how the Catholic Church acknowledges them. It centers around the Lourdes grotto, where 69 cures still unexplained by science are said to have taken place over 160 years.

The second doc, The Mystery of the Holy Lance (1 x 90 minutes), combines scientific investigation with historical research to explore the 2000-year-long history behind the ‘Holy Lance’. Also known as the ‘Spear of Destiny,’ it is said to be the weapon that pierced Jesus Christ’s side after his crucifixion.

Rodolphe Guignard commissioned the film for RMC Découverte. Samuel Kissous (pictured) will serve as executive producer for Pernel Media.

While Pernel retains global rights on the programs, the company is currently in discussions with distribution partners.
