European pay-TV operator Sky One has commissioned fact-ent competition series Loot from Endemol Shine Group-owned prodco Shine TV.
The tentatively titled 5 x 60-minute series follows eight individuals as they attempt to locate a missing treasure. For two weeks, the groups try to find the loot and keep it out of the hands of some of Britain’s best detectives, who are determined to track the competitors down using old-fashioned sleuthing techniques combined with modern technology.
Using the latest cameras and 4G streaming technologies, Loot will tell the story of both citizen and detective from on-the-ground filming over a huge geographical area.
“Loot is a high stakes, entertaining factual series, in the tradition of The Island and Hunted, observing how likeable, ordinary people cope in extraordinary circumstances,” said Shine TV creative director Tim Whitwell (pictured) in a statement.
Shine’s Matt Bennett is executive producer and Tom Hutchings is series editor. Gayl Paterson and Ben Allen will series produce.
Loot is scheduled to air on Sky One in 2018.
