Will Rowson has joined UK indie producer True North as executive producer.

Rowson will be tasked with developing the Leeds-based prodco’s documentaries and specialist factual slate.

He most recently served as series producer on the Blast Productions team for The Channel on Channel 4. Previously, he workedat Love Productions, where he was a development producer for Wags Kids and World Cup Dreams as well as a producer director on Famous, Rich and in the Slums and Muslims Like Us.  He also worked on the development team for Twofour, directing the children’s BAFTA-nominated A Different Life.

True North was acquired by Sky Vision in January, having been the first company to exit Channel 4′s Growth Fund.

“We’re conscious that pressure is on broadcasters in terms of their Out of London commitments, and Will is part of our plan to help them ease that problem,” said Jessica Fowle, creative director, in a statement. “He’s a brilliant operator who successfully combines a sharp intellect with natural warmth and great storytelling. We’re sure he’ll be a big success.”

True North currently has several series in production, including The Pets Factor (Series 2, CBBC), The Yorkshire Dales and The Lakes (Series 2, More 4), Teen Mom UK (Series 3 for MTV) and A1: The Longest Road (Series 2 for BBC One).
