Viacom-owned Spike TV is prepping a documentary about charismatic comedian Sam Kinison.

Directed by Adrian Buitenhuis, I Am Sam Kinison delves into Kinson’s life, as told by his closest family members and friends.

Viewers will watch rarely-seen clips from Kinison’s most iconic performances as he rises to fame with his signature intense and sometimes politically incorrect humor, riffing on some of his favorite topics including marriage, women, religion and world hunger.

From his humble beginning as a Pentecostal preacher to drawing crowds of packedb stadiums, Kinison enjoyed a meteoric rise to fame, excess, drugs, despair, and an untimely death when his car was hit by a drunk driver in 1992.

Buitenhuis interviews characters including Jay Leno, Corey Feldman, Bob Saget, Joe Rogan, Bill Burr, Tommy Chong, Rudy Sarzo, Ron Jeremy, Charlie Sheen, Argus Hamilton, Jimmy Shubert, Dan Barton, Felicia Michaels, Joey Gaynor, Judy Tenuta, Steve Epstein, Lue Deck, Bill Kinison and Sherry Kinison throughout the doc.

Along with Derk Murray of Network Entertainment, I Am Sam Kinison is executive produced by Paul Gertz, Kent Wingerak and Robert Pirooz and Spike’s Jon Slusser and Jaimee Kosanke also serve as executive producers.

I Am Sam Kinison debuts on Spike Dec. 19 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
