All3Media-owned Maverick TV has appointed John Hesling as president of its U.S. division.

Based in L.A., Hesling will be tasked with developing and launching programs for American audiences and driving value from formats created by Maverick’s UK office.

He will report into CEO Simon Knight and All3Media America’s CEO Greg Lipstone.

Hesling most recently served as SVP of programming for Shed Media/Warner Bros. Television. Prior to that, he spent 14 years at the BBC in London, New York and L.A., where he developed, produced and directed award-winning documentaries and factual entertainment formats.

Hesling introduced BBC’s Top Gear into the U.S. market, and his executive producing credits include First Dates and Genius Junior for NBC, Long Lost Family for TLC and Criminal Confessions for Oxygen. A BAFTA and Rose D’or-nominated producer, he has also developed and produced shows for ABC, E!, History¬†and GSN, among others.

“John’s proven mix of domestic and international experience in both cable and broadcast make him the perfect person to continue Maverick’s success and expansion in the U.S. market,” said Lipstone, in a statement.

Maverick TV is based in London, Los Angels and Birmingham. It is perhaps best known in the U.S. for the series Chrisley Knows Best and its spinoff According to Chrisley. It also produces the UK series Tried and Tasted and Escape for Channel 4.
