Discovery Channel is prepping a series that aims to show that takes viewers inside interrogation rooms during some of history’s most intense exchanges.

From home invasions to murders, Red Marble Media’s 10-episodes series The Interrogation Room looks at the tactics used by detectives to obtain criminal confessions.

The premiere episode takes place in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where detectives Marcus Glover and Marty Albert try to uncover the truth behind what seems to be the cold-blooded murder of 34-year-old Brent Luttrell, who was found dead in the middle of a rural country road.

With little evidence pointing to a suspect, detectives focus on their only lead – the ex-boyfriend of Luttrell’s girlfriend, Ashley Hadder. But as the number of suspects increases, the case becomes more complicated and the interrogation rooms become full, Glover and Albert must rely on their training to find the killer.

Red Marble Media’s Kevin Fitzpatrick, Stephen Dost, and Jonathan Santos serve executive producers on the series. For Discovery Channel, senior executive producer is Jeanie Vink.

The Interrogation Room premieres Jan. 4 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Discovery.
