On tap for this week’s edition of “Renewed and Returning” are new seasons of series on MTV, A&E Networks, Lifetime and Channel 5.
A&E Networks returns to Atlanta’s Fulton County Jail for a new season of 60 Days In (pictured).
Produced by Lucky 8 TV, the series features nine participants who go undercover, posing as inmates, to reach a deeper understanding of life behind bars. Faced with rampant drug use, powerful gangs and the constant threat of violence, participants become immersed in the world of incarceration. 60 Days In premieres Jan. 1 and 4 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on A&E.
Sixteen talented designers will compete for a second chance at runway gold on a new season of Lifetime’s Project Runway All Stars, premiering Jan. 4 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
Eight All Stars veterans will go up against eight former Runway designers. The winner of Project Runway All Stars will receive a fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine, a one-year position as contributing editor, a complete sewing studio from Brother Sewing and Embroidery and US$100,000 grand prize to elevate their business and build their brand. Alyssa Milano returns as host with judges Isaac Mizrahi, Georgina Chapman and Anne Fulenwider, editor-in-chief of Marie Claire, joining as mentor.
Twofour has been commissioned by Channel 5 to produce a second season of One Night With My Ex, which reunites former lovers to give them a night of honesty.
Each episode of the 6 x 45-minute series features two or three former couples reuniting for the first time since splitting up. Couples spend a night on neutral ground — an apartment rigged to hear and see their every move — as they ask each other a series of questions psychologically designed to figure out what went wrong and if there is a chance for a rekindled romance.
One Night With My Ex returns to Channel 5 in early 2018.
Youth-focused network MTV’s competition series The Challenge: Vendettas returns for a new season.
Twenty-eight players, including stars from MTV’s Ex on the Beach, Geordie Shore and contestants from Big Brother, travel to Spain to pursue their personal vendettas against one another. Only one winner will come out on top, with a final prize that can exceed US$500,000. Produced by Bunim/Murray, The Challenge: Vendettas returns Jan. 2 on MTV.
Finally, Science Channel’s longest running and most popular space series, How the Universe Works is back for its sixth season as astronomers and experts examine the building blocks and inner workings of our universe to better understand outer space. From Pioneer Productions, How the Universe Works returns Jan. 9 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
