Food Network is going behind the scenes to see what it takes to create mind-boggling cakes in the upcoming series Ridiculous Cakes.

Chef and host Alton Brown will narrate the 12 x 30-minute series, introducing audiences to talented cake artists from across the U.S. who will offer insight into their craft.

Cakes include a celebration of the beloved children’s series Fraggle Rock, created for Jim Henson Studios, as well as a giant planet Earth cake that weighs nearly a quarter of a ton, decorated for an Earth Day gala.

In back-to-back premiere episodes, featured creations include a Bollywood-themed chandelier cake that hangs upside down and lights up; a baby shower cake that defies gravity, a high-fashion cake; and a cake created for a food blogger.

Ridiculous Cakes premieres Jan. 1 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Food Network
