Australian pubcaster SBS’ chief content officer Helen Kellie has passed away following a battle with cancer.
Kellie joined SBS in late 2012 as director of marketing before being promoted to CCO in 2014. In a statement, SBS managing director Michael Ebeid said Kellie excelled at the role “with unrivaled passion and energy.”
He added that Kellie was “one of the most remarkable people” he’s had the privilege of working with.
Kellie passed away on Dec. 23.
During her tenure as CCO, Kellie led the editorial direction of the pubcaster, working in the heads of news, TV, online and radio. She worked on broadcast events including First Contact, Struggle Street and the television special Eurovision Song Contest.
Before joining SBS, Kellie held a number of roles at the BBC, including chief marketing officer for BBCWW and director of marketing, communications and audiences for BBC Vision.
Prior to that, Kellie worked for households company Reckitt & Coman (now Reckitt Benckiser) in a variety of roles.
Ebeid described Kellie as a “true leader, innovator and creative who shared her skills and knowledge with all she worked with, and a generous and inspiring colleague, friend and mentor to many.”
