Leonardo Pasquinelli, managing director at Banijay Group-owned Magnolia, has joined Endemol Shine Group as CEO of its Italian division.
The appointment will see Pasquinelli (pictured) returning to the media company he first joined in 2004. In 2008, he rose to become VP of Endemol Italia before departing for Magnolia in February 2014, where he spent four years as MD. He succeeds the outgoing Paolo Bassetti, current CEO at Endemol Shine Italy.
Pasquinelli will move into the role in the forthcoming months following a transition period from Bassetti, with senior management within Endemol Shine Italy and Endemol Shine Group also supporting in the interim.
Bassetti is exiting Endemol Shine Group following a near-20 year career at the company in order “to take a break and undertake a new chapter in my life to find new experiences,” he said in a statement.
“It has been a privilege to work with such an extraordinary team and I could not be prouder of all that we have accomplished together,” Bassetti added. “ESG taught me so much both at an international and national level. I will never stop thanking them.”
“Endemol Shine Italy has flourished under Paolo’s leadership, particularly in recent years,” said Endemol Shine Group CEO Sophie Turner Laing in a statement. “He leaves with our huge thanks and appreciation from the whole Group for his passion and dedication throughout his time with the company, both on set and in the office. His legacy will be a creative, prolific and collaborative team in place to build on these achievements.
“We are delighted to welcome Leonardo to Endemol Shine, he is an accomplished programme maker and executive whose experience, both previously with Endemol and more recently with Magnolia, could not be more ideal for the role of leading this team forward,” she continued.
With more than 40 unscripted productions airing across 2016 and 2017, Endemol Shine Italy has produced localized formats including Big Brother, Deal or No Deal?, MasterChef Italia, Next One, The Best Years of Our Lives, Ready Steady Cook, Your Face Sounds Familiar, The Wall and Identity.
