American Documentary (AmDoc) has added two members to its board of directors.
Anjali Kumar and Carolyn Strauss join the parent organization of PBS documentary series ‘POV’, continuing the board’s yearlong diversification and expansion efforts.
Kumar and Strauss come to the board with extensive media backgrounds. Kumar is the chief people officer and general counsel at Cheddar, a post-cable net led by former Buzzfeed president Jon Steinberg, and Strauss is the former president of HBO Entertainment.
“Anjali and Carolyn come to our board with unique experience and insights, and a passion for public media and documentaries,” said Justine Nagan, executive producer/executive director of POV/American Documentary, in a statement. “In addition to their strong networks and broad skill sets, they will help us meet our goals to bring gender parity and additional diversity to AmDoc’s board in the months to come.”
Elsewhere, AmDoc has hired Chloe Gbai as POV Shorts and streaming producer. Working closely with the executive producers, Gbai will lead the initiative by POV to bring more short docs to its broadcast and streaming platforms.
Gbai is a New York-native filmmaker and producer whose work centers around issues of race, immigration and gender. Her work has appeared on Teen Vogue, HBO, VH1 and Logo TV.
