Channel 4 has greenlit a doc that will document the birth and breeding of the first polar bear cub to be born in the UK in 25 years.

The one-off doc Britain’s Polar Bear Cub was filmed by STV Productions over a two-year period. The featured cub was born a week before Christmas.

The doc will provide viewers with insight into the biology of polar bears, how they mate, and how they raise their young. It will explore the role polar bear breeding in captivity has to play in the species’ future survival.

Peter Collins serves as executive producer with STV Productions, while Tom Porter is the commissioning editor for C4.

Britain’s Polar Bear Cub (1 x 60) will air on March 18 at 7 p.m. BST.
