International content and media group Keshet International (KI) has acquired a majority stake in prodco incubator Greenbird Media.

Founded by joint managing directors Jamie Munro and Stuart Mullin in 2012, investor and business accelerator Greenbird will continue to provide indie producers with access to innovative funding models and expertise in IP and licensing deals to support their projects.

As part of the deal, KI will become the distribution partner for the indie prodcos supported by Greenbird. KI also acquired BBC Worldwide’s previous shareholding of the company.

According to a release, KI and Greenbird Media view this venture as “a way to utilize their strengths to help production companies reach their full potential.”

The deal was brokered by managing director UK and West Europe Sammy Nourmand, Keshet’s head of business affairs Viktor Vakrat and Keshet CFO Sigal Alboher for KI, and by Munro and Mullin for Greenbird Media.

“Jamie and Stuart have created a nurturing and supportive environment for the impressive stable of producers they work with,” said Nourmand (pictured), in a statement. “The quality content that the indies produce speaks for itself and the opportunity to work with the team at Greenbird, and those IPC’s was too good to turn down.”
