Rob Coldstream, interim head of specialist factual at UK pubcaster Channel 4, is leaving the post to return to the production sector.
Coldstream joined C4 as a history commissioner in 2014. After specialist factual head John Hay left the network last year to join prodco The Garden as chief creative officer, Coldstream was upped to the position on an interim basis.
Series under Coldstream’s watch included: Mutiny; Trump: An American Dream; The Biggest Little Railway in the World and returning series including Gogglebox and Gogglesprogs. He also oversaw such one-offs as Interview with a Murderer; First Contact: Lost Tribe of the Amazon; The Good Terrorist; Hunting the KGB Killers; and First Brit.
“Rob is a wonderfully ambitious, inventive and thoughtful commissioner who has been responsible for some of the channel’s most splashy (literally) and creative shows over the last few years,” said Ian Katz, C4 director of programs, in a statement. “I’m particularly grateful to him for the brilliant job he has done overseeing the specialist factual department since the departure of John Hay and look forward to working with him again in the next phase of his career.”
