In this week’s roundup, new unscripted series and documentaries are scheduled to debut across National Geographic, MTV, Oxygen and PBS’s ‘Independent Lens’.

Female-skewing crime network Oxygen will examine the rise and ultimate fall of former NFL New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez.

Produced by eOne-owned Renegade 83, the two-part docuseries Aaron Hernandez Uncovered looks at the story of the sports phenom, whose life and career was cut short following a series of dark events. The special will take viewers beyond the headlines to reveal Hernandez’s dual life through never-before-seen interviews, eyewitness accounts, testimony unheard in trial, and new medical revelations. Aaron Hernandez Uncovered airs March 17 at 7 p.m. ET/PT and March 18 at 7 p.m. ET/PT on Oxygen.

Elsewhere, American pubcaster PBS’s award-winning doc strand ‘Independent Lens’ will present the television broadcast premiere of director Peter Bratt’s highly acclaimed feature-length documentary Dolores(pictured).

The 95-minute documentary, which had its world premiere at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival, provides an intimate portrait on American activist Dolores Huerta and her fight for racial and labor justice alongside Cesar Chavez. The doc features interviews with Gloria Steinem, Luis Valdez, Hillary Clinton and Angela Davis, among others, and premieres March 27 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on PBS.

National Geographic, meanwhile, will unveil a tentpole event series exploring our home planet.

One Strange Rock, a 10-part cinematic event series produced by Nutopia and Protozoa Pictures, will explore the fragility and wonder of our pale blue dot while examining the story of why and how life as we know it exists on Earth. It’s all brought into perspective by the only people to have left it behind – astronauts. Hosted by Will Smith, the tentpole was in production for more than 100 weeks and was filmed across 45 countries, six continents and beyond Earth’s parameters at the International Space Station. One Strange Rock debuts March 28 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on National Geographic.

Finally, Viacom’s youth-focused network MTV has partnered with Jersey Shore creator SallyAnn Salsano and her 495 Productions banner to revisit the massive unscripted franchise.

Beginning April 5 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, Jersey Shore Family Vacation will follow the majority of the original Shore housemates as they reunite in Miami for a holiday vacation. Featured cast includes Deena Nicole Cortese, Paul “Pauly D” Delvecchio,” Jenni “JWOWW” Farley, Vinny Guadagnino, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino.
