BBC Worldwide has solidified the senior management team of its French production arm following a company restructuring.
The rejigging has Gery Leymergie (pictured left) and Pierre-Marie Gadonneix (right) appointed as senior directors within BBC Worldwide Productions France, reporting into Jacob Deboer, global commercial director of formats and production.
Leymergie will now serve as chief content officer, overseeing all factual and entertainment programming. Gadonneix, meanwhile, has been elevated to the post of chief operating officer responsible for the production teams and all operations.
“The reorganization of our senior team simplifies our reporting structure and with Gery and Pierre-Marie, both well established at BBC Worldwide and leading the business, 2018 is shaping up to be our busiest year ever,” said Deboer in a statement.
The reshuffling of BBC Worldwide Productions France’s top line structure comes after the company landed a pair of commissions, including ARTE France and Together Media’s tentatively titled docuseries In Search of the Orient Express.
Private national French TV channel TF1, meanwhile, has ordered a second season of popular documentary series The Secret Life of Cats (La Vie Secrète des Chats).
In November 2017, BBC announced that BBC Studios, its independent production unit, and BBC Worldwide, its commercial division, would merge to form one commercial entity. The newly formed entity, named BBC Studios, will begin operating as a single organization on April 1.
Formed in 2009, BBC Worldwide Productions France has since introduced a wide range of popular unscripted British series to French audiences, including Dancing With the Stars for TF1, Top Gear France for RMC Decouverte and Great Bake Off for M6.
