Brett Morgen‘s acclaimed documentary Jane (pictured) from National Geographic Studios and Public Road Productions, and Lucky 8 TV’s 60 Days In for A&E are among the non-fiction projects nominated for a Rockie Award as part of the 39th Banff World Media Festival.

Held over two nights and two events, the Rockie Awards Program Competition serves as a celebration and recognition of excellence in television and digital media from around the world, and is juried by a panel of 115 international industry professionals.

This year’s awards nominees sees 123 participants coming from more than 45 countries across 26 awards categories from within the scripted and non-scripted genres, including Documentary & Factual, Arts & Entertainment, Children & Youth, and Scripted.

Celebrated annually on night three of the festival, the hors-concours (out of competition) Rockie Awards Gala honors outstanding talent and executives from the industry, and the Rockies’ Grand Jury Prize for best overall program.

Leading the competition are British pubcaster BBC with 11 nominations; Netherlands Public Broadcasting (NPO) with seven nods; Canadian pubcaster CBC with five; National Geographic and Sony Pictures Television with four nominations each; and Verizon, ARTE France, Disney/ABC, Discovery Channel and Motion Content Group each receiving three submissions.

“This year’s Rockies nominees are truly representative of the best content in the world, ” said Jenn Kuzmyk, executive director at Banff World Media Festival, in a statement. “We are proud to recognize the creativity, talent and incredible dedication that has gone into making all of this year’s entries, and we look forward to celebrating the nominees and winners work at the festival in June.”
