Factual entertainment producer/broadcaster Insight TV is putting the spotlight on the relationship between animals and humans consuming meat in the new series Travel With a Goat.

In the commissioned 5 x 44-minute series, scheduled to air the first week of December, two foodies journey across South America, Asia and Europe with a goat, or another livestock animal. The program will follow the duo’s experience as they travel as a domestic farmer would, through cities, forests, rivers and deserts, all the while wrangling the animal. At their destination, both participants have to agree to surrender the goat to its fate: becoming food.

Travel With a Goat aims to create a discussion about the ethics of eating animals, and is produced by Tuvalu Media, with Insight’s Arun Maljaars as creative commissioner and Frank Le Mair as dedicated series EP. Emiel Neervoort is on board the project for Tuvalu.

“Many of us regularly buy meat from the supermarket without much consideration of how the animal lived or was killed,” said Maljaars, director of content and channels at Insight TV, in a statement. “We find it shocking when faced with the reality, yet still continue to eat meat.”
