Banijay Group has appointed former Endemol Shine executive Marcus Wolter as CEO of its German operations, which will be unified under the banner of Banijay Germany.

Starting in August of 2018, Wolter, formerly chairman of Northern Europe for Endemol Shine and CEO of its German office, will have oversight of Banijay-owned prodco Brainpool and Banijay Productions Germany.

Wolter began his career in entertainment media via the music industry, founding the music publishing company Seegang Music in the 1990s. Later, he was part of the founding tam behind Viva, Germany’s first music television channel, and subsequently held myriad positions with Germany’s first interactive broadcaster, 9 Live.

“Banijay Germany is a brand new umbrella company – created to take advantage of the myriad opportunities in this significant market,” said Banijay Group CEO Marco Bassetti. “Our aim is to escalate the growth of our business across all genres to supply broadcasters and the many new multi-platform SVOD services in Germany with high-quality content. We will achieve this by developing organically through our existing German production house Brainpool and by creating additional labels and companies that will operate alongside this established and award-winning producer.”

The move follows the group’s announcement earlier this week of the establishment of Banijay Asia, to be led by Deepak Dhar.
