Icon Films wins Animal Planet order

UK production studio Icon Films has been commissioned to produce a two-hour film special for Animal Planet’s ‘Monster Week’. It is set to air on May 28 at 8 p.m. ET.

The Lost Kingdom of the Yeti (pictured) follows yeti-hunter Mark Evans as he embarks on an expedition into the Himalayas with news of yeti-sightings and mysterious prints in the snow. The doc boasts believers, a medical disaster, a forbidden mountain and an appointment with royalty.

Harry Marshall and Jonny Young are executive producers for Icon Films, while Patrick Keegan is supervising producer and Keith Hoffman is executive producer for Animal Planet.

UKTV’s W adds Sex, Knives and Liposuction

UKTV has ordered the Cherry Healey-fronted docuseries Sex, Knives and Liposuction for its premium entertainment channel W.

The 3 x 60-minute documentary series marks the first UKTV Original from the BBC Studios’ Science Unit, and is set to air this year.

The series follows Healey as she immerses herself in the world of cosmetic surgery, and explores whether changing your face and body can actually make you happy.

Sex, Knives and Liposuction has been ordered by Steve North, genre GM for entertainment and comedy, and Richard Watsham, director of commissioning. UKTV’s deputy director of commissioning Hilary Rosen has commissioned the show for W and will act as executive producer. For BBC Studios, Robi Dutta is executive producer.

Sex Tape lands in Belgium

Israeli producer-distributor Armoza Formats has sent its social experiment format Sex Tape to SBS Belgium, the Belgian branch of the Scandinavian media holding company SBS Broadcasting.

The local adaptation of the 60-90-minute format will air on the broadcaster’s VIJF channel during prime time.

Belgium’s version will star leading sexologist Goedele Liekens, and will see three couples film their love life for a week, and then share their uncensored tapes with each other.

Casting for the couples who will participate has already begun.
