Kylie Washington, most recently Matchbox Pictures’ director of unscripted, has been named BBC Studios’ first director of production in Australia.

She will launch and manage growth for BBC Studios’ television production arm in Australia, exploit the format catalog of BBC Studios, and create new programming.

Washington takes up the role in the coming months, and will report to the international production division, led by Anna Mellett, managing director, production and COO of BBC Studios. She’ll also work alongside Jon Penn, managing director, BBC Studios, Australia and New Zealand, and his executive team.

Washington will also work with BBC Studios’ editorial teams in the UK, Australian broadcasters and digital platforms.

Her credits include developing and overseeing Real Housewives of Melbourne and Sydney for Foxtel, and developing the original formats Formal Wars for Seven, and Everyone’s a Critic for Australia’s ABC.
