Los Angeles-based prodco Main Event Media, part of All3Media America, has named April Smith to the role of VP of development & current programming.

In the new role, Smith (pictured) will supervise the content studio’s current series and productions, both in the field and in post-production.

She has spent years working on various shows across multiple genres throughout the U.S. and internationally, including across news, documentary, variety and live events. Most recently she was a supervising producer for All3Media America on Investigation Discovery’s Breaking Homicide. Before this, she held the title of supervising producer at The Intellectual Property Corporation, working on such series as Showtime’s Active Shooter: America Under Fire.

Smith has additionally produced for a variety of networks, including ABC, CBS, CNBC, TLC, MTV, VH1, A&E and Discovery, with further production credits that include ID’s Is OJ Innocent? The Missing Evidence, NBC’s I Can Do That!, Bravo’s The People’s Couch and TBS’s King of the Nerds.

Elsewhere, Main Event Media has elevated Emily Bon from development coordinator to manager of development. In her new role, Bon will help manage Main Event’s unscripted development, while also being assigned to the company’s budding scripted slate and burgeoning original podcast division.

Bon joined Main Event Media in late 2017. She began her career in the digital media space and most notably headed the development of original and branded content at Breakwater Studios.

Stephanie Valentin, meanwhile, will remain in her role as director of development. Valentin, who joined the company in July 2017, plays an essential part developing all of Main Event’s unscripted and documentary projects.

“April, Stephanie, Emily - and you can include my new assistant Kristen in there – are all fierce women with exceptional taste and a dynamic work ethic,” said Main Event Media president Jimmy Fox in a statement. “As we continue to expand our scripted slate and move into original podcast production – these are the women who will guide the company’s next chapter. I feel like Sandra Bullock assembling the Ocean’s 8 squad.”

Founded in 2017 by producer Jimmy Fox with the support of Objective Media Group and All3Media, Main Event Media is an Emmy Award-winning content and full-service prodco with a slate of programs currently on air that include CNN’s United Shades of America, E!’s The Arrangement, Paramount Network’s It Was Him: The Many Murders of Ed Edwards, ID’s Breaking Homicide and Pop’s Hollywood Darlings.
