A+E Networks-owned Lifetime has commissioned London-based Emporium Productions to produce the one-off special Harry and Meghan: Royal Rebels.

The hour-long special examines the most surprising and shocking rules of British royal weddings and reveals which of these traditions the couple are updating and which they’re disregarding, from royal guest lists to public displays of affection and dress regulations.

The project will also feature archive footage and photos that expose the secrets of past royal weddings in combination with exclusive interviews with royal experts, close friends and former palace staff.

Harry and Meghan: Royal Rebels will premiere on May 13, immediately following the debut of Lifetime’s original scripted feature Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance. The documentary also will air globally on Lifetime.

The project marks the first A+E commission in the U.S. for Emma Read‘s Emporium Productions.

The deal was brokered by production finance broker and distribution agent Silverlining.
