On tap for this week’s edition of ‘Renewed and Returning’ are new seasons of series on Discovery, Investigation Discovery and GTV. 

Avid explorer Josh Gates (pictured) journeys across the world to investigate the greatest mysteries of all time in Expedition Unknown, making its debut on Discovery Channel after four seasons on sister network Travel Channel on May 29 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Produced by Ping Pong Productions, the series will follow Gates as he travels to a long-lost city hidden in Guatemalan jungles, as well as his search for a stolen pair of iconic ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz. After the Hunt, following the two-hour premiere of Expedition Unknown, takes viewers further into the investigation and reveals new secrets.

Elsewhere, award-winning investigative journalist Maria Elena Salinas returns to true crime network Investigation Discovery for season two of The Real Story with Maria Elena Salinas on June 4 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Produced by Scott Sternberg Productions and Lucky 8, the series 10 new episodes will follow Salinas as she digs for the truth behind headline-making crimes in search of new evidence, unheard perspectives and the latest updates. Archival footage and recreations are interwoven with intimate, one-on-one interviews, bringing those impacted by the crimes to the forefront.

A third season of The Voice Kids returns to Indonesian television net GTV on June 28. The singing competition for kids expands this year with recruitment being held in 15 cities across the country. The Voice Kids is based on the global format The Voice developed by Dutch-based Talpa Media and features the same blind audition and competition process.

Wrapping up this week’s overview of returning series is the July premiere of Discovery Channel’s Emmy-Award winning Cash Cab. Comedian Ben Bailey and his taxi return to the streets of New York City, giving unsuspecting passengers a chance to win cash. Cash Cab is produced for Discovery Channel by Lion USA and Norton Productions.
